Desnaking Clinic
What is a Desnaking Clinic?
The Gulf Coast GSP Club originated this program in Texas and we have been striving to improve our training techniques for more than 25 years. While our program has often been copied, it has never been duplicated. Our program is designed to help you and your dog avoid snakes by using sight and your dog’s superior senses of scent and hearing to detect the snakes prior to coming into striking range. Our aversion training techniques teach the dogs to make a wide circle around the snake. By recognizing this behavior, you too can avoid close encounters of the venomous kind.
Every year, venomous snakes bite an estimated 8000 people and an untold number of dogs. In all too many of these cases, the victim is permanently disfigured, maimed or killed. For over a quarter century, the Gulf Coast GSP Club has been striving to reduce the number of these potentially deadly encounters by training dogs to avoid snakes. We offer an annual desnaking clinic where you can bring your dog to be conditioned to avoid snakes and warn you of a snake’s presence.
