I was fortunate to experience this Championship run in Bloomingdale, Ohio at the Mingo Sportsman’s Club on September 21, 2008. Dixie ran a very nice brace and pleasant to watch with a picture perfect bold breakaway over the hill and to the front. Exhibiting strong animation characteristics, nice flow of gate, pleasant to the eye. Consistency hunting and finishing lines with strong bold finishes at the end of each line and off to the next line in sight.

As we flowed forward on course first find produced a wild covey of quail at the 33 minute mark all manners at hand and on to the next field. With 5 minutes left Dixie was found on point at top of the hill with birds running and hard to produce at last the nested birds where came into flight. With 2 minutes left of we casted her until time expired. Dixie is bred by James and Sarah Messer out of Annie’s Little Stinker and Tonelli’s Rising Sun.
Yes, “Sonnet” (NEWPoint Poetry of Nuthatch) is a solid liver! I imported this lovely girl from Canada. Her dam is Canadian and her sire is the handsome Hungarian Am Can Hungarian Luxembourg World CH Malomkozi Delceg. Once arriving at my home though, she has quickly converted to Texan! Sonnet has a fabulous temperament and personality and everyone that meets her falls in love (and of course usually tries to keep her). I believe Sonnet is a wonderful addition to my home and in the future hopefully my breeding program as well, by in any case she is here to stay.

“Jet” (NEWPoint Daredevil’s VicterE Flight V Ehrenvogel) is the first Dev son I have kept, and with Dev’s name incorporated into his own he has a bit to live up to. He has a lot of his father in him that is for sure but even more so. He has only two speeds OFF (which is asleep) and ON (which is perpetual motion), and the latter is much more frequent. Even though he is still a babe, one shouldn’t be telling him he can’t do anything the big dogs are doing because you will be proven wrong. He is always on the go, investigating, and in the middle of everything. Jet’s outgoing attitude is nonstop. He is going to be a bird nut like his mother, and hopefully as good as the performance things as his father. One thing this boy definitely take after his father on is he loves the water.

Nancy

NEWPoint Daredevil’s VicterE Flight V Ehrenvogel
“Jet”
NSC BIS BISS U-CDX Am/Can/Mex/Nat’l/Int’l/JU.A Ch Ehrenvogel Daredevil VDC2 (TD CDX OA OAJ) RAE JH OF NAP OJP VCA ASCA-CDX NAC RS-O NGC GS-O JS-N-CGC
x
CH NEWPoint Ehrenvogel 4Runner JH RN VC CGC
Bred By: Nancy Ward, Terri Sandvik & Renee Lara
Owned By: Nancy Ward

NEWPoint Poetry of Nuthatch
“Sonnet”
Am/Can/Hungarian/Luxemborg/World CH Malomkozi Delceg
x
Am/Can CH Chomberg N’ Partridge Run Tribecca
Bred By: Heather & Joanna Brennen
Owned By: Nancy Ward & Heather Brennen

After waiting for a new puppy for an awfully long time, Flip was finally whelped on May 30, 2008 along with her 9 brothers and sisters in our “Ring” litter. She’s got some pretty big shoes to fill, considering her mom and dad have just about done it all. We’ll have to wait until next year until she’s old enough to compete, but in the meantime she has taken over my house and learned that she can get away with most anything just by looking cute.

A special thanks goes to her co-breeder/owner, Mark, who now knows that breeding a litter of 10 is not exactly a walk in the park and that getting them here is just half the fun. Just transporting them into the back yard for playtime and to the vet’s office for shots was an undertaking not for the faint of heart. Mark was brave enough to keep one of Flip’s sisters, Madrone Ring Nine-One-One (Riot) and Beverly & Tom Quarles of Austin, who have Flip’s half-sister, Halo, took a beautiful male from the litter. We hope to see all of these guys in both the show ring and the field when they get older.

In the meantime, it sure is nice to smell puppy breath again.

Molly

Dixie has demonstrated early maturity in her young Field Trial career. We had the feeling she was on the brink of winning a big trial soon because she was putting things together very nicely, so we decided to extend her season by sending her up north to Hi-Point Kennels (Chris Goegan). I was fortunate to experience this Championship run in Ionia, Michigan on May 7, 2008. Here is a glimpse of my recollection.

Dixie ran a huge race, attacking lines and finishing them strong. Her breakaway was picture perfect, a bold burst forward over the hill with her handler pointing her out to the judges and off she was. Exhibiting strong, animated characteristics with a nice flow in her gate so she was pleasant to the eye. Consistently attacking line after line with strong bold finishes at the end of each line and off to the next line in sight. As we flowed forward on the course Dixie exhibited intelligence by selecting the next target up ahead of the course, attacking the objective directly and hunting it. At the 45 minute mark a single was all that was needed, all manners in place, with a forward strong bold finish, with another line to attack and finish whole. Dixie was always found to the front when maneuvering thru the terrain and thickets. This is beautiful country and it’ll challenge a Field Trial Dog’s stamina, desire to hunt, and flow on course and most important handle and still make All Age moves to prove itself worthy of a placement. Some of the the best dogs in the country were at this trial. A total of 12 dogs started and first and second were awarded. Those were some of the best judges I have run under. They were looking for the dog, knew where the dog needed to be and allowed the dog to show itself, without assistance most importantly making a distinction between All Age and Shooting Dog. Overall a memorable experience running under Joe Luisi / Paul Pollock. Handling Dixie was Chris Goegan, scouted by Jimmy Wallace. Dixie was bred by James & Sarah Messer out of NAFC “Chloe” Annie’s Little Stinker and “Sonny” NFC Tonelli’s Rising Son. Dixie is owned by Shannon & Harvey Franco.
Shady is the 5th out of the litter to finish her Amateur Field Championship. She was bred by Sherrie and Gene Moseley in 2002 and is out of FC/AFC Mad Cassino’s Beck X FC/AFC Laski’s Dandi Dixie Darling. Shady was bred to FC Uodibar’s Woodman in 2007 and two of the puppies are currently ranked in the top five in the Puppy/Derby standings thru April of this year. We will be breeding Shady again next year, as she seems to pass on the qualities that have made Shady such a joy to run. I would also like to thank Gene and Sherrie Moseley and Phil Rosenberg for all the help. A big thanks also to Tina and Tonia for the retrieve.

Terry
