Membership Information
Our club is composed of individuals and families with a wide variety of interests ranging from show and agility to hunting and field trials. The common denominator is our love of the German Shorthaired Pointer.
Each year, the Gulf Coast German Shorthaired Pointer Club holds two licensed specialty shows, three field trials, an agility trial, two hunting test trials, a water test trial, and training seminars on bird dog training, handling, tracking, etc. In April, we have an Awards Banquet where we reward our members with plaques and trophies for their dogs' accomplishments throughout the year. We also hold a desnaking clinic in August in which dogs are trained to avoid snakes.
Our meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of each month at Gander Mountain located at 19820 Hempstead Road. The meetings start at 7:30PM and end by 9:00PM. For directions, please visit our "About the Club" web page and don't forget to check our calendar to verify the date for the next meeting.
During each of the meetings, we have interesting programs, such as those covering veterinary advice, conformation shows, how to show your dog in the show ring, how to handle them in field trials, etc.
In addition to obtaining valuable knowledge from our meetings, members of the club receive a monthly newsletter with interesting articles covering recent events, results, dog news, etc. We also have a video library of more than 40 tapes on training, showing, tracking, etc. that members may check out on a monthly basis.
If you are interested in learning more about our club, we would like to extend an invitation to you to attend one of our meetings as a guest, meet some of our members, and see if you would like to join.
For club members, dues are $12 per year for individuals and $15 for family.
